Charcoal Drawings

Here are some charcoal drawings I did for my clothed figure drawing class. I used rough newsprint paper. I also used a soft conte compressed charcoal and switched to charcoal pencil later on.

All 20 min poses or less.

A lot of progress

Rigged the girl. Modeled and rigged the guy. Script is done. Voice-overs recorded. Scene is lit. Now is the animation stage.

My animation workflow is currently to plan the shot, lipsync, expressions via blendshapes, spine, head, hands then go back and tweak. It works pretty well. Unless the animation leads with the hands.. But I've found it to be pretty fast because its a linear and requires little tweaking.

I also included a lipsync test with some Napoleon Dynamite one liner I found on the school drives.

The finished product will be complete in a week. Hold your breath.

Nuts

This week was nuts. Turkey, Sales, Blood and Tears.

I somehow got convinced to go to best buy for their black friday sale. There was a brawl because someone skipped the line. God bless America!

Picked up a 22" lcd monitor for peanuts though.

Got to know some very cool people and played too much xbox.

All in all, a good week.

God I miss Bojangles.

First Post

Hey there,

I'm a 3D animation grad student at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. This is my first semester.

I'll be posting work in progress as a way of documenting things I've learned here.

This is my first time using Maya although I've dabbled in 3dsmax in the past.

Perhaps when I've learned enough, I'll post tutorials but for now...

These first few pictures are part of a short film I am developing. It'll be about 1-2 minutes long and have two conversing characters.

The mesh is box modeled with quads then smoothed.

Currently I'm setting up expressions and lipsync and will move on to rigging later.

My first time with blendshapes:
